Tooth Friendly Easter Baskets

According to the National Confectioners Association, Americans spend more than $1.5 billion on Easter candy each year. This means that on an average each American will eat an equivalent of 25 pounds of candy! Dr. Nussear strongly encourages you to become an educated consumer and monitor the amount of candy your children consume.  If your child does eat candy try to confine it to mealtimes.  Ensuring a healthy diet, as well as good brushing and flossing habits helps reduce the risk of cavities.  Another idea is to modify the treats you (or the Easter Bunny) include in the Easter baskets; as there are many great things to give children that do not contribute to tooth decay.   Some great ideas include giving some arts and crafts supplies, music cds, books and electronic gadgets!
